“I'm not a remarkable person. I haven’t lived an extraordinary life and I haven’t achieved great personal or professional success.”
You may now be asking yourself why would I want to keep on reading, I would be too.
At the beginning of 2017 I started work writing what I consider a story of my personal life that has been filled with love, loss and a long list of lessons. Originally titled ‘Take Control’, it's a story where I hit rock bottom more than once: The first in a personal breakdown after losing my brother to suicide in 2008 and the second in a professional and financial breakdown in 2013 after losing my career due to my poor life choices.
It was during these difficult times that I experienced significant anger, denial and blame, which turned into a deep depression. It wasn’t until after a restless night in 2014, with my head full of suicidal thoughts, that I knew there was only one way out of my situation: I needed to take control and give myself the power to improve my life, starting with the way I was treating myself.
On August 22, 2018 which would have been my brother Mathew’s 36th birthday, I announced that the first version of the book had been written. A crowdfunding campaign was launched to aid in the work being self published. Less than seven days later, over $10,000 had been raised to go towards the project being fulfilled.
Entering 2021, after hundreds of thousands of words, the work being rewritten three times with the assistance of an editor, the final stages of the project are being completed. The book is now titled ‘Until The End’ and due for release in February.
